Tempering is a thermal process which hardens the glass by a factor of 4 to 5 and guarantees fragmentation of the glass in case the glass is broken thus avoiding any risk of serious injury to a person. After various operations of transformation such as cutting, drilling, polishing, etc. the glass is brought to a temperature of approximately 650°C and then immediately cooled with cold air. This creates great internal pressure in the glass, the interior being submitted to a traction effort and the surface being submitted to a compression effort. LAURIER GLASS possesses a strong experience of many years in the field of tempering and the quality of our products has allowed
us to acquire a solid reputation from the most demanding clients. We are also the only company that combine both the processes
of tempering and silvering thus giving us the opportunity to supply you with tempered mirrors of great quality for your shower
doors or other applications requiring safety mirrors.
However, more and more manufacturers, conscious of supplying safe products to their clients and families integrate safety glass to their design of furniture or other domestic products.
Our tempered glass 'TEMPLAUR' is in conformity with all Canadian and American standards regulating tempered glass : CGSB-12.1 , ANSI Z97.1- 1984 et 16 CFR 1201 II. We also follow the recommandations set forth by ASTM C-1036 and ASTM C-1048. LAURIER GLASS takes very seriously the quality of its tempered glass and safety products. Daily tests are executed
on each thickness of tempered glass and these results are registered and conserved.
For all questions concerning the conformity of our tempered glass to the acting legislations, it will be our pleasure to
answer all questions you might have.
